Faux Fireplace Designs

It used to be that faux stone fireplaces had a reputation for looking cheap and tacky after being installed. But now, faux stone, also known as manufactured stone, cultured stone and man-made stone, is a popular decorative element for creating beautiful, natural-looking and fairly inexpensive fireplace designs in today’s homes. In terms of both material and labor, faux stone costs about 25 percent less compared with natural stone. It does not require any curing time in order to dry or set, and can be attached to the fireplace in no time at all. While faux stone is a great alternative to use in your home fireplace, care should be taken as they have a tendency to absorb more moisture than regular stone materials. Also, chipping a piece from your manufactured fireplace can reveal the material underneath the veneer, which is often a different color than the material that the faux stone is trying to mimic.
